Apparently, this week was officially ’embarrass Mummy’ week. For those that don’t know, children are given free rein to tell whatever stories they like about their Mummy at top volume, preferably in a place full of people. Fabricated stories are allowed, and in fact, preferred.
Meg obviously got the memo and has been on top form this week with her comments.
It all began when she decided to shout across the hall at me during gymnastics “why haven’t you ever got enough money to take me to soft play?!?”…maybe not cringe-worthy for some but I blushed nonetheless.
Followed a few days later by her announcing in the checkout queue at the supermarket, “Mummy you just trumped!” before addressing the man behind her: “my Mummy is always trumping!”
On one afternoon when I was collecting her from nursery she was telling the staff all about how I was going to buy her a car when she was 5, and how she would be a better driver than me because she wouldn’t get cross at the other drivers and call them names…I grabbed hold of her before she could elaborate on exactly what those names are!
Suffice to say, we have had a very detailed conversation about what things are appropriate for sharing and what things aren’t!
