Weekend Family Fun

Jess McGlynnJune 4, 2013

This weekend was one of those lovely times where we just all hung out and had a really nice time together as a family.  We don’t often get weekends where we aren’t running around trying to achieve the seemingly impossible on our time off work.

It helped I think that the sun was shining and we were able to spend all our time outdoors.

On Saturday we went to a birthday party at Albrighton Hall.  It was a ‘Pinecone Party’ and the theme was knights and princesses.  The kids absolutely loved it.

I’ve not been to that sort of party before and I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was fantastic.  There were a variety of activities to do such as dragon making (out of pinecones and clay), crown making (using leaves and pipe cleaners) and Meg’s favourite – sword making!  We also played hide and seek in the little woodland area, toasted marshmallows on the campfire and went on a treasure hunt.  I took so many photos it’s been difficult to choose which ones to use!

On Sunday we took Alfie for a walk out to our local woodlands.  We decided to to try a route we’ve not done before, through some fields and up a fairly steep track before heading into the Outwoods.  We were overtaken by several runners along the way and I think possibly I was more exhausted than the kids by the end of it but it was a really lovely time.  It was so peaceful and Meg, Eli and even Alfie were really well behaved!

We spent some time taking some silly family photos and making shadows on the ground before heading back and I managed to take possibly one of my favourite photos ever using just my phone.

When we got home we made our own pizzas, with Meg taking the lead as master-chef.  It meant they didn’t come out perfectly shaped but they tasted delicious nonetheless and Meg and Eli certainly seemed to enjoy them!!

I won’t be joining in next week as we’ll be on holiday but hopefully when I get back I’ll have lots of outdoor adventures to share!
