Holiday Memories: Saundersfoot

My next guest poster is the lovely Amanda who blogs at City Girl Gone Coastal.  I have read Amanda’s blog since I first started blogging and have often drooled over the lovely things she creates, especially her bunting!!

Holidays are typically supposed to be a relaxing break away from the stresses and strains of everyday life, providing memories of jolly times, sunburn and excess eating and drinking.
They are not meant to be a turning point in your life.
But that is exactly what a week long break did for me.
Back in 2005 I was a confused and lost girl stumbling through life trying to figure out who I was and where I was going.
I ended up finding out whilst enjoying the calm and easy pace of a Welsh community called Saundersfoot.

Whilst taking walks along sandy beaches and through lush green woodland I was able to take stock of everything, the calmness, compared to the hustle and bustle of London I’d left behind, gave me the perfect opportunity to just think.
My most precious memory of this holiday is that it brought me back to my family, I was finally able to cut ties from the destruction that I’d lived with for the past 5 years and start again.
That’s not to say I spent all the time reflecting on life screw up of life, for the first time I got to really spend time with my niece, Maddy was 4 at the time and hilarious.

Even today, remembering her chasing seagulls and practising her happy, angry and sad faces cracks me up.
For the first time ever I was able to really talk to my mum about how she was dealing with my dads death.
And my little sister and I finally buried the hatchet and became friends.
It turned out to be just what I needed, decisions made during that week long holiday have directly shaped me into who I am today.
I’ve had a few holidays since then, but none have compared to that week!
