Let’s Play: Outdoor Painting
I saw a fantastic idea on Pinterest recently for outdoor painting which I was really keen to try. With the weather being as gorgeous as it has been, this weekend was the perfect opportunity.
As regular readers will know, I am a big fan of messy play that doesn’t actually involve much mess and this really fits the bill. Done outside, away from precious pieces of furniture, and with no clean up required whatsoever (you just let the elements do their work) this ticked all my boxes!
To make the paint, we used 16 tbsp of water, 8 tbsp of cornflour and a couple of drops of food colouring. We had red, yellow and blue food colouring in the cupboard, so that is what we used!!
Mix it all together – you may find that the cornflour sticks to the bottom of your container but keep mixing, eventually it will dissolve into the water. It will also start to separate if left for a while so if your children are playing for a long time, you may find you need to stir it all up a few times.
Then, give your children some paintbrushes and let them go!
Meg and Eli seemed to thoroughly enjoy being mini Monets!
