The Best Laid Plans…

Jess McGlynnJuly 15, 2013

I have written and rewritten this post so many times in my head since Thursday.  I wanted to share about how horrendous an experience it was for us, to bring shame on the NHS and to highlight the distress that Meg has gone through.

The words just never seem to fit.

I know our experience was a bad one, the fact that the hospital are putting in an official complaint on our behalf and have advised us to do the same tells me all I need to know.

I thought it would be therapeutic to write it all down but that hasn’t worked either and I don’t want it to come across as self-deprecating.  I do feel guilty about the decisions we made but I need to work through that in my own time.

In the meantime, I need to apologise as everything has been thrown off kilter.  I haven’t commented on linkys I’ve joined with, or fulfilled promises to write posts, I am still trying to get to grips with what day it is!

Nor will I be able to carry on with my themed weeks just yet as Meg is out of action for at least 2 weeks until her stitches come out so just non-vigorous, sitting down games for us at the moment.  I should be able to get my crafting hat on though and think of some things for us to make.

I am playing catch up as quickly as I can and fingers crossed soon all will be back on track.  I keep waking up in the middle of the night, remembering something else I needed to do and I am slowly making progress (I think!)

In the meantime, any tips on:

– keeping a 4 year old still
– explaining removal of stitches as a non-terrifying experience to a child
– keeping a child washed and clean when you can’t get a leg wet!

would be gratefully received.
