This month has been all about secrets. Away from the eyes of Mummy and Daddy, secret adventures, secret missions, secret games.
Meg and Eli have started to shut themselves away to make little plans and then emerge, some time later to say they can’t tell us what they were doing or discussing because we’re grown ups and it’s secret.
I love standing outside their bedroom door listening to the exclamations and giggles, trying to work out what game they are playing. I probably should feel sad that I am being excluded from their play but I don’t, because I think it’s important and wonderful that they are forming a strong relationship with each other.
I don’t think there is anything quite like the bond of siblings. A good sibling relationship is one which is more than just familial, it’s about being allies and friends. Meg and Eli are definitely on the road to having a good and real relationship which I am positive will last the years.
They are growing up together, discovering together and I love when I watch them interact, sometimes with no idea what they find so funny, the uniqueness of them when they are together.
Even if that means that, for now, I can’t be a part of their secret games.
