We are big fans of Oliver Jeffers in this house. Our favourite book to date was ‘Stuck’ and it has provided many amusing bedtimes for us. So we were very excited when we heard that it was the 10th anniversary of Oliver Jeffers book, ‘How To Catch A Star’ and that we were being sent a copy of the book to review.
How To Catch A Star is a very sweet story about a little boy who sits and watches the stars from his bedroom window each night, wishing he could have one of his very own. One day he decides he is going to go about catching one from the sky and the story follows his attempts to do just that.
I am not surprised that this book has continued to delight children for 10 years, both Meg and Eli adore the simple tale, and were really keen to find out what happened next and whether the little boy would catch his own star. It is funny in places (such as the little boy’s rocket not being available as he used the petrol up travelling to the moon) and the illustrations are beautiful. Perfect for a bedtime story.
Suffice to say it has become a firm favourite and as each page only has a couple of sentences, Meg will even sit and read it on her own now with her developing reading skills.
Even more exciting, is that I have a very special giveaway.
