I write this with a large degree of trepidation as BritMums Live 2014 will be my first major blogging event. I did buy a ticket to go last year but family events combined with nerves and a general degree of shyness meant that I bowed out at the last minute.
This year however, I feel marginally more confident. I have made a lot more friends in the blogging sphere and will actually be staying with the lovely Claire from Clarina’s Contemplations which eliminates the fear of heading into a room full of people on my own!
I am what I like to think of as an extroverted-introvert. I am perfectly happy by myself, in my own company, and can find the act of talking to lots of people quite tiring. I’m also not great at being in large groups, and will often not say anything at all. However, in a small group (and usually with the assistance of a glass of wine or two…) I can be very chatty and outgoing. So, you might see me hiding behind my phone pretending to look very interested in it but please do come and say hello, I am very friendly!
So, enough waffling. BritMums have created a set of questions to help everyone who is going to get to know one another. So here are my answers:-
Blog: Catch A Single Thought
Twitter ID: @jjmcglynn
Height: 5ft 4
Is this your first blogging conference?
No, I attended a Tots Blog Camp in 2012, and I did go to a smaller BritMums event at Christmas. This is my first conference though.
Are you attending both days?
What are you most looking forward to at BritMums Live 2014?
I have gotten to know some amazing bloggers through Twitter and reading their blogs and I can’t wait to meet them and also to catch up with some familiar faces.
What are you wearing?
Well, this is the golden question! I was planning on wearing a dress for the Friday night but after much consideration I am going with comfort over anything else. I’m already going to be fretting about the social element, I didn’t think it would help to fret over how much of my legs were on show too! So, I think skinny jeans and a pretty top.
What do you hope to gain from BritMums Live 2014?
I’m really looking forward to learning more about how to take Catch A Single Thought to the next level. With Eli starting nursery in September *sob* I’m going to have a lot more time on my hands and I’d really like to see the blog develop and grow.
Do you have any tips to pass on to others who may not have been before?
I’m afraid not as I am in the same boat! I will be scouring other blogs for the tips myself in the next two weeks…
