We’ve been quite lucky since the end of the summer holidays with the warmer weather seeming to stick around but this week, as I skidded and slid along the decking which was covered with a fine layer of frost first thing in the morning, I think we have finally said hello to autumn.
I absolutely love this season; without a doubt it is my favourite. Anything which gives me an excuse to bring out the grey woolly jumpers and my boots is a winner with me so I wasn’t that disappointed when this weekend brought typical autumn weather; one minute it was beautiful sunshine and the next we were hiding under trees as the heavens opened and we were caught in a torrential downpour.
Not to mention the fact that House of Fraser offered to send Meg and Eli some items from their beautiful AW14 collection and it gave us the perfect excuse to road-test them. We visited Astley Park which isn’t too far from us and was the ideal place for the kids to let off some steam.
Meg had chosen a gorgeous Joules dress for herself, which I absolutely adore. It’s definitely one of those items which I wish they made in an adult size. Teamed with her wellies it was just right for exploring, and, naturally, jumping in muddy puddles. At £26.95 I think it’s a snap. I know it will wash well, it’s a good quality brand and she looks adorable in it (just don’t tell her I said that!)
The long sleeves also mean that it is ideal for the changeable autumn weather, when you need something lighter than a coat but warmer than just a t-shirt. The material is also quite thick so I know that she will be warm enough when she is playing outside.
For Eli, I chose this cute Pumpkin Patch knitted jumper. Again, Pumpkin Patch are a brand which offer good value for money and I really like the variety they offer for boys. I find that in comparison to the wide range of girls clothes, the stuff for boys tends to be a little bit boring (blue, brown, blue and some more blue) but Pumpkin Patch always have a really great selection although, yes, I realise that this is a blue jumper…but it’s cute, no?
Although he wasn’t too interested in posing for long (who would be when there is so much space to run around in?!) I think that the jumper is such a good fit, and it made him look so grown up.
We had a great afternoon, even if the weather was a tad crazy and I am so pleased with the items that we were sent by House of Fraser. They will certainly be firm favourites in the kids autumn wardrobes.
Why not have a look for yourself at the great range of kids clothes they have available? With so many brand names I was actually surprised at how affordable the clothes are…just be prepared to leave your bank account groaning!
