Outdoor Home Style

Jess McGlynnJune 1, 2015

This year, having settled into our new house a bit more we have determined to sort out the garden once and for all.  Unfortunately it isn’t the biggest space in the world, but it could certainly be a little less overgrown and definitely more kid-friendly than it currently is.

When we moved we had to leave our garden table and chairs behind as they were simply too heavy to move which has meant I’ve had a good excuse to do some internet browsing and come up with a shopping list.  Happens to be one of my most favourite things, especially when I’m then allowed to go and spend the money!

So I have had a lot of fun thinking about how we are going to style the garden once James has it fully cleared.  He made a good start today and actually now it looks less like a jungle, there is more space than I first thought which is good.  I was beginning to think the table and chairs set I’ve been saving for would dominate the entire garden and leave no room for the kids to play but I don’t think that will be the case luckily.

I am really loving bright colours at the moment; yellows, pinks, greens and blues.  All the colours which put you in mind of long days lazing in the garden, eating ice lollies, paddling in pools and high pitched squeals of laughter.

How quirky is this La Hacienda owl ornament?  I can just see that sitting on the little deck outside Meg and Eli’s playhouse; I think it would look so cute.

I’ve been planning on upgrading our outdoor plates and cutlery for a while and am totally hooked on the Linea range from House of Fraser; they have loads of lovely items in gorgeous summery colours, which would be perfect for a bit of al fresco dining when the weather really warms up.  The glass water bottle, kitsch throw and flamingo cushion are all from this beautiful range.

I think the Rice Melamine cups and bowls are also fab.  They come in all different colours and are ideal for outdoor dining as you know they will bounce if little hands knock them to the floor!

I also think these sunjars are so sweet.  They have hidden solar panels and light up when it gets dark.  I love that they come in different colours and they look like quite a durable option for when you have kids bouncing around the garden.  I think Meg and Eli would love watching them light up as the sun went down and I’m currently a huge fan of the mason jar fad going on at the moment so these would fit right in.

What do you think of my choices?  All of these fab items are available from House of Fraser and (shh) many of them are currently reduced!

Better yet, I am able to offer one lucky reader the chance to win a gorgeous item from House of Fraser.  This Pied a Terre Cherie Stripe Boudior Cushion would look fab outdoors or indoors; I can just imagine it on a wicker recliner propping me up as I relax in the sun with a glass of wine and a good book.  Too bad I can’t win it myself.

To enter, just complete the rafflecopter below and if you aren’t lucky enough to win this time then don’t worry, House of Fraser have plenty of excellent quality cushions available for purchase this summer.

– UK and Ireland entrants only please.
