Brilliant Bodies, Snapback Caps and Making A Mess #LittleLoves

Jess McGlynnJune 5, 2015

I’ve been enjoying a second week off with Meg this week (sorry James and Eli) and especially enjoying the sunshine which made a sneaky appearance towards the end.  We even managed to fit in a trip to Ikea; I left the kids in the play area which I’ve never done before and got to walk around for a whole hour unimpeded.  I can’t think of the last time I did that.  Unfortunately it wasn’t so great for our bank balance but I did manage to leave with everything on my list and I can’t remember the last time that happened either.

I delved into one of the John Grisham books which have been languishing on my ‘to read’ shelves for a while now this week and have totally got my reading mojo back.  I can’t get enough of it and I’d forgotten how fast paced and tingly his books can be.
With the kids we’ve been reading this brilliant Usborne ‘See inside’ book which is all about our bodies.  Recently Eli has been asking a million and one questions about how our bodies work so I picked this up and it has been fantastic.  Although maybe not so much for everyone else as Eli now spends his days reciting facts about our bodies for all to hear, including much about our ‘bottom goo’.  They do this type of book for a whole host of topics so I’m definitely going to hunt some more out.  We’ve also been reading this Knights’ Castle book which Eli was gifted for his birthday.

I have really been getting into Reckless at the moment; it’s on Alibi and it is fantastic.  I think I may have a bit of a ‘thing’ for Southern American accents which is probably why I love it so much but if you like a bit of tension, a bit of mystery and a bit of action then I’d really recommend it.  Although I’ve just seen that CBS have cancelled the show (this always happens to me) so I’m gutted there won’t be a season 2 on the horizon.  I guess I’ll just have to keep watching the reruns!

As usual I am bowing out of this one and passing over to my children.  Yesterday was so beautiful that we rocked the summer clothing and in particular I love this hat I picked up in the H&M sale for Eli.  He’s such a dude.

Having been out to see it at the cinema last Saturday, I’ve been enjoying the Pitch Perfect 2 soundtrack this week.  I particularly love the ‘Riff Off’; it was my favourite part in the first film as well…I could honestly watch 2 hours of just that to be honest.  Although I will let you in on an even sadder secret…I actually cried during the Bellas finale song.  Yup. I did that.  James tried to pretend he wasn’t with me when we left.

Meg has been off this week as well as last week so whilst it was just the two of us we’ve spent a lot of time making things; My Little Pony playdoh shapes, Frozen glitter globes, writing stories…the list goes on and on.  She’s so creative and really is at home making things.  I am much less inclined to get messy so it’s been an interesting dynamic for us both.  I have tried really hard not to get stressed out whilst she has made as much mess as she can feasibly get away with.

And Lastly…

I am so excited that we have some very good friends coming to stay with us this weekend.  I have been scrubbing the house to within an inch of its life, stocking up on wine and planning meals.  I can’t wait for them to arrive tomorrow evening.

I hope everyone else has had a wonderful week.

I've been meaning to give Reckless a try. I'm a fan of Southern American Accents too (I'm slightly addicted to Hart of Dixie for that reason). I really want to see Pitch Perfect 2! Have a great weekend x

Awww… how lovely for you to have a girly week with your little lady! Even if it is rather messier than you feel comfortable with! That body book sounds great… I think Ava would love the idea of "bottom goo"!!

I'm desperate to go and see Pitch Perfect. Most of my friends have already been so I might have to be a loser and go on my own, haha! xx
