New Clothes, Easter and That Summer Feeling ǀ Little Loves

Jess McGlynnApril 7, 2017

It has been a couple of weeks since I last joined in with Little Loves; life got suddenly very stressful and although actually sitting down and writing a post about the things I loved would have probably helped, I just didn’t have the brain space!

But I am back this week and hopefully, the last fortnight will have just been a small blip.

This week I finished reading The Orphan’s Tale by Pam Jenoff.  Inspired by true events, it is set during the Second World War and is about a famous German circus which hides Jews and helps them to escape being sent off to the camps.  We focus on two women in particular; Noa, a Dutch girl who has ended up in Germany after finding herself pregnant and Astrid, a Jew who is trying to avoid detection by the Nazis.  It wasn’t a particularly complicated read but I just connected with the author’s writing style and I really enjoyed it.

We have been enjoying the new series of Modern Family just recently along with Season Two of the Gilmore Girls.  I try to binge watch GG when I can but it does seem to be taking me forever.  I also watched the first two episodes of Big Little Lies but I didn’t massively enjoy it; I read the book a couple of years ago so I know what is going to happen and I think that has made it lose a little shine for me.

I have been busy making Easter plans this week.  The kids break up today and I seriously cannot wait.  I don’t even care if the weather is miserable, just the thought of two weeks with no school and limited responsibility has me dancing around the place.  Hopefully we will get out and about for a few of the days but I am mostly planning on insisting that we spend lots of time chilling in our pyjamas.

I made a little trip into town last week and went shopping for myself.  It wasn’t anything fancy and I just went to Primark but I did haul the things I bought.  I’m still not 100% sold on the skirt though…

It’s by no means a new song but I have been loving JP Cooper’s September Song this week and have constantly had it on repeat.  I think it is so uplifting and it has really been getting me in the mood for summer.

And Lastly…
I’m giving this space over to our impending house move.  I wrote a post just last week about how nervous I am to be making some big decisions but this week I have been feeling more excited than anything about the potential.  We are viewing a house today and I am really hopeful although it’s so hard to tell from pictures how things really look!
