Hands up if the warmer weather puts anyone else in mind of a good deep-clean?! I know we are technically supposed to think about de-cluttering and all things fresh and new when spring rolls around but we don’t seem to have much of a spring here in the UK anymore so for me summer and warm days are when I start feeling inspired to throw open all the windows and doors in the house and give everything a decent airing out.
If winter is the time of year when you hunker down and try to stay cosy then for me summer is the opposite. I want a minimalist feel to everything, and I definitely want to look at sparkling surfaces and washing on the line. I’m not really one for holding on to things which we no longer use but there does seem to be a change in my attitude around this time of year, very much like throwing out the old and bringing in the new.
Plus…and I am sure that there are a good number of parents out there who will agree with me…the rate at which you can empty your washing basket is just unrivalled at this time of year. I don’t think I ever see the bottom of our washing basket until we hit the summer months and I can wash and dry several loads of washing each day. It does, unfortunately, mean facing off a mini-mountain of clothing each evening but I’d rather that and have the deeply satisfying knowledge that my washing basket is nice and empty. Apparently it’s the small things which get me through my parenting journey these days!
It is for this reason that when ACE got in touch with me to ask whether I’d be interested in hosting a giveaway for a bundle of their cleaning products I agreed. If anyone else out there feels like me around this time of year then these will surely come in handy.
