If you’ve been following me here for a while you may know that just over a year ago Eli was diagnosed as having a gluten intolerance. We were advised to not pull gluten completely from his diet but to limit how much he eats and there on followed an interesting dietary journey as we discovered that gluten is in SO MANY THINGS. It has been a real eye-opener but also a positive experience for us as a family as we have become so much more conscious about what we eat. Not just in terms of foods which contain gluten but knowing and understanding when we are making healthy choices.
One of the trickiest areas has got to be snacks for the kids. As any parent will tell you, kids are eating-machines and finding snacks which fill them up, taste good but aren’t full of nonsense is no easy feat. So when we were invited to try out Pulsin Kids’ Fruity Oat Bars we jumped at the chance. These oat bars are made with real fruit and natural ingredients, contain less than 100 calories are gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GM and soya-free with no artificial ingredients additives or preservatives. This is surely music to the ears of any parent trying to find snacks for a child with additional dietary requirements. It certainly was for me and when I spotted some of the flavours, I was practically battling the kids for the first mouthful.
Variety is key for me, and each of us ended up with a different favourite flavour. Meg thought the Super Berries was delicious, Eli favoured the Apple & Blackcurrant (not pictured here) and I couldn’t get over the Salted Caramel. It’s a shame these bars have been created with children aged between 5-9 in mind because I was all over them.
Perhaps even more exciting is the fact that Pulsin Kids’ Fruity Oat Bars are teaming up with Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation, which is being released today in the UK. From Sony Pictures Animation, join your favorite monster family as they embark on a vacation on a luxury monster cruise ship so Drac can take a summer vacation from providing everyone else’s vacation at the hotel. It’s smooth sailing for Drac’s Pack as the monsters indulge in all of the shipboard fun the cruise has to offer, from monster volleyball to exotic excursions, and catching up on their moon tans. But the dream vacation takes a dangerous turn when Mavis realizes Drac has fallen for the human captain of the ship, Ericka, who holds a mysterious secret that threatens them all. I know where we will be heading during the summer holidays…grab the popcorn!
