*This is a collaborative post*

It doesn’t matter whether you have just moved in or whether you are looking to make your home more “you” because there are a few tips and tricks that you can use to completely transform the look and feel of your property. The best thing about them is that they can be done with minimal effort and cost too.

Paint your Rooms in a Lighter Colour

It’s so important that you don’t use colours which are too dark for your space. You need to use light and bright colours instead, as this combined with the natural light from the window will really make each room seem larger. If you are stuck as to which light colours to go with then cream and even pale pastel colours can work great.

Decorative Mirrors

Mirrors are fantastic at making small rooms feel bigger. If you have a larger room, place your mirrors directly across from the window. This will help to bounce the light around the room and it will also add an instant amount of light too. Decorative mirrors can also be used if you want to fill an empty wall space, or even if you want to try and add some personality to the room. If you don’t have room for a huge mirror then this is not a problem, but you should find something that will reflect light equally as well. This can include opting for metallic picture frames or even a glass coffee table. Little changes like this can make a huge difference to your home and it can also bring out the personality of it as well.

Mix Things Up

A lot of people think that they can’t possibly mix traditional and modern. This is not the case at all. In fact, it is more than possible for you to place any family heirlooms right next to your modern couch. The only thing that you have to do is make sure that your home reflects who you are and your personality. Your antique items will tell a story, and the items you have in your home will also tell their own tales. It’s 100% acceptable for you to combine past and present and it is also possible for the two to co-exist perfectly with one another. The same concept can be applied to any artwork that you might have, or even any furniture textures.

SlipCovers

Believe it or not, slipcovers are wonderful things. They can serve as a way for you to change up the look of your furniture and it can also help you to protect your items. If you want to make the most out of your covers then place them in rooms where your children tend to go. If you are concerned about your room looking worse as the result of slipcovers, then opt for some crisp and white ones instead. This will add a level of elegance and it will also help you to really bring out the look and feel of the room.

Wicker Baskets

Wicker baskets really are an elegant way for you to give any room a bit of extra storage. They can be used to store and even display books, magazines, toys, blankets and even towels too. If you want to make the most out of this then place a few wicker baskets on the countertops in your kitchen. You can then add fruit, vegetables or anything else of the sort. This will really bring out the look and feel of the room.

Use what you Have

Your home needs accessories. Instead of running out to the store, you need to look at what you have right now. You can place acrylic, silver or even wooden accessories to bring your home to life and you can also be creative here as well. If you have some nice plates then consider hanging them so you can get some nice wall art. Art from children’s books can be framed and then hung on your walls. You would be surprised at how much decoration you can add to your home by doing this, and it is a fantastic way for you to really take things to that next level.

Pot Holder

Kitchens are meant to be somewhat warm and inviting. You will spend a lot of time in your kitchen, whether you are entertaining, serving meals or even preparing food. For this reason, hanging a pot rack can be really handy. It can also make the whole space feel more open because your cupboards aren’t crammed with them. When choosing your pot rack, you have to remember that there are so many options available and that you can easily choose one as big or as small as you’d like.

Declutter

Sometimes, all you need is to declutter your home in order to make a serious difference. It’s now easier than ever for you to hire a rubbish removal service and they can easily take anything you need away. If you are finding it hard to declutter then you’ll be glad to know that there are so many guides out there to help you get started.

Go Green

It really does help to add some plants to your living space. Add them to every room that you can, regardless of whether it is small or large. Plants are inexpensive, and they add colour and even texture as well. The best thing about plants is that they can clean your household air and they can even help you to control the level of humidity too.

Wallpaper

Believe it or not, wallpapering your bookcases can be a great way for you to energise any room. It’s amazing to see how this can instantly energise a space. It’s very inexpensive and it is very easy to do. If you don’t feel confident enough to wallpaper, then you can try and paint it instead. When you do this, you will easily be able to add a splash of colour and you can also make the space really stand out too.
