I saw two memes recently which made me smile. One said ‘people who are wearing jeans in lockdown…what are you trying to prove?’ and the other ‘the buttons on my jeans have started to social distance from one another’…I’m sure some of us can relate!
Although I haven’t been stuck at home so much during lockdown, thanks to my day job, when I am at home loungewear is my go-to. I only wear jeans if I’m seeing someone or I’ve got to venture outside (and then sometimes I still don’t bother!) so when Femme Luxe reached out and asked if I’d be interested in reviewing some of their loungewear, the answer was pretty easy.
I chose three pieces from their loungewear collection and have very much enjoyed putting them to the comfort test.
First up: Black Cuffed Joggers – Lizzie
I will admit to being something of a snob when it comes to joggers. I tend to purchase branded joggers as I find they last longer but I after reading so many positive reviews regarding the Lizzie joggers, I was curious to see for myself.
So far I have been extremely impressed both with the quality and the style. They are so soft and have an incredibly cosy lining which has been perfect for those rubbish British summer days when it does nothing but rain and you want to curl up at home.
They also wash well. Thanks to the dog hair showing up on the black (poor choice by me) these have already been washed a number of times and they are holding their shape and their softness. They come up big (think baggy 90s style) which I love but I would be tempted to size down if you wanted a slightly more snug fit. The elasticated waist band gives plenty of wiggle room for this IMO. I like rolling them up on the bottom, especially on warmer days and I think this adds to the overall look.
And I think the true sign that these are good is that I’m ordering them in another couple of colours. They are fast becoming my ‘go to’ item when I want to be comfortable at home.
When I took this t-shirt out of the packaging I was slightly alarmed by the amount of pink powder it left behind, and which puffed out into the air in its wake. I think this is down to the way that it is printed and to give it a unique ‘washed out’ look, but something to be aware of.
I was also surprised by how thin and see-through the top was once it was washed versus how it appears on the website. It is comfortable and over-sized, I prefer to wear it pulled down over one shoulder (I am a size 6 and I ordered an XS and it’s still big and baggy on me) but I like the look and it’s great for those days when you just want something light and comfortable to wear.
The rolled sleeves and crew neck give it a nice look but due to the see-through nature of the top I don’t know that I’d wear it out of the house.
This loungewear set ticked a lot of boxes for me. I have to admit that I have a real thing for ‘off the shoulder’ looks. I don’t know why but there’s just something about the style that I think is cute. It’s also comfortable, the joggers fit well and it comes in my favourite colour; grey. The first time I wore the joggers James asked me where they were from as he thought they looked really stylish. They have a tight cuff at the bottom which I think sets them off well and the cropped top is a good addition. For £16.99 you can’t really go wrong, and the set comes in a variety of different colours.
Again, I was impressed with the quality and with the way both items have washed. As a mum of two I do prefer the joggers over the whole set but I think they look good on and I’d definitely recommend them for a comfortable set to wear for those long lockdown days.
